I find the elitism often associated with such worthless knowledge amusing. I don't mean the OP necessarily, but so many like to elevate themselves to some intellectual plateau unreachable by mere BB employees, etc. as though their ability to read Anandtech and browse hardware specs is somehow indicative of intelligence. The problem is that, yes, everyone is an aficionada due to the overwhelming pervasiveness of computing technology; my grandmother knows about as much as the average wannabe-geek.
I see that you have two choices: improve yourself or continue to belittle others. Keep comparing yourselves to Best Buy technicians and you'll find yourself improving very little beyond them.
My tupence 😀

i should have put something in the first post regarding this matter. you make a good point, and i assure you i almost NEVER do stuff like this. these guys are constantly talking out of their anus though, and i did it for my own amusement. i do not in anyway think i am better than anyone else for having knowledge that they lack. i didnt mean for that post to sound elitist...just an amusement type of thing for the geeks (myself included) here.

I know. I didn't get the impression that you were the way, and so that's why I prefaced my comment with "I don't mean the OP necessarily." I've had my fair-share of interactions with technical ignoramus', but then I try to remember that I only perceive them as such for the fact that I am something of an expert in my domain; I am certain the reciprocal is true: I am someone else's ignoramus. The only thing that then differentiates us is our willingness to educate in a manner as non-pejorative as possible; patience is a virtue oft-espoused but not expressed.
