Ok, I'm gonna ask this one more time.

I have a D-Link DI-614+ router with three computers attached to it wirelessly.

PC #1 connected via DWL-120+ USB adapter running Windows XP

PC #2 connected via DWL-120+ USB adapter running Win2k

Laptop connected via D-Link PCMCIA wireless adapter.

PC # 2 and the laptop function perfect.

PC #1 which is my main PC for gaming and just general usage ALWAYS has activity no matter what. It constantly uploads 53kbps according to the D-Link software.

This on top of being very annoying is breaking up my upload speed and slowing my overall connection.

I've upgraded the firmware on my router, formatted and reinstalled windows, disabled onboard LAN and firewire devices, manually configured IP addresses, reset the router to default, blah blah, switched channels, switched WEP encryption. NOTHING seems to do the trick.

There are no programs running like Kazaa or WinMX, no spyware because it happens even right after I format the drive.

Can someone help me?

Try swapping round the USB adapters, see if the same still occurs on PC#1, or if it starts happening on PC#2.

If it does, then that means that your USB adapter is broked.

If not, then it's eliminated one thing.

Does PC#1 have NetBOUI/NetBIOS running or just TCP/IP protocol? If NetBOUI/NetBios is running try disabling them. Do you get any errors in the Windows Event viewer? Any redirect errors?
Try using personal firewall software on that machine. If you don't have any install Zonealarm freeware version and by default it will prompt you for permission when programs try to access the network. If this is a program problem you should be able to allow or disallow access to programs until this stops. If it keeps happening, I would blame the ethernet adapter/cable, try replacing the cable first, then the card if that doesn't work.

Good luck,

Mike
