AMEX will generate a new one-time-use credit card # for you so you don't have to worry about security leak.
AMEX Private Payments

I'm not sure this is hot deal or not but you can always be 'new' customer with AMEX new service (free service).

Been hearing about this for a while... I wonder how companies which institute "new customer" coupons/discounts are gonna handle this.

Wouldn't you need to keep track of tons of email adresses too since for new customer status, they tie a CC and email address?

Hopefully this will not happen:

Pass: Each card # = new customer
Now: Each card # = new customer
Future: Each billing address = new customer (worst case)

[edit]
neonitto, a simple Excel solves the problem of tracking orders and emails

That would be interesting to try. I dont think currently those online stores really care if you are a true new cust or not. They do need the data to boast.

RoadRuner, good point!

I received email from Cobalt card saying that they are going to change to AMEX instead of Visa. For those who don't have AMEX, you might want to try this. But is the Cobalt AMEX card works for the Private Payments?

Makes me wish I had an Amex or Cobalt but the last thing I need is more debt. For those of you who can become "new customers" again remember to get the most bang for your buck and wait until Buy.com's next free shipping promo (no I don't know when it will be).
