I don't see how this survives a challenge.

Does not have to survive a challenge, all it has to do is drag that challenge out long enough to get past the next election so that it can be used then. Then it can be struck down and they will create a new bill that will not survive a challenge, but will allow them to hold on to Texas for one more election.

Texas is about to turn blue and they are getting desperate. Texas stays red mostly through a lot of gerrymandering and voter manipulation. Once it turns blue they will be out of power and will no longer be able to manipulate the system to get it back.

So instead of focusing on handling of the ballots after cast they make a big deal about shit like this??

Just admit you Republicans don't give a fuck about people voting unless its your kind of people.

Hey if you learned how to read you would see that I'm not defending the bill only clarified that it isn't transporting people to the polling place, but bringing three or more that cannot enter the polling area unassisted.

Interesting to think what these ploys that are meant to institute voter suppression/disenfranchisement laws targeting a very specific voting bloc will look like in the history "books" some 50 years from now along with Trump's criminal efforts to attain and maintain the power he now wields.

From the article:

It makes it illegal for, say, a friend to drive 3 or more voters who are “physically unable to enter the polling place without personal assistanceand therefore request a poll worker’s assistance to bring “a ballot to the voter at the polling place entrance or curb,” unless they fill out and sign an affidavit attesting to the voters’ inability to enter the polling location without help.

Still sort of weird, I’d have to fill out a form to drive you to the voting place if you were unable after your surgery?
I don’t get what this is trying to prevent other than the stuff Glenn noted even then I’d assume there are other laws that could be enforced.
What does this bill prevent and what impact will it have on wait time to vote.

If that many disabled people are showing up to vote wouldn’t it be easier and more proper to staff the voting locations better?

I'm just waiting for you to admit Republicans are and have been actively trying to suppress the minority vote.

Good luck with that. You'd be better served and more successful waiting for space aliens to land in your front yard and give you the secret to faster than light travel.

Only three or more disabled people.

I don't see the point either.

I think that the law doesn't specify color or minority status. Only three or more disabled persons of any color or status.

To be honest I don't see what this bill is supposed to accomplish.

I'd rather just divide the country now and forever into 7 countries.

Atlantic
South East
Midwest
Texas
Western
Alaska
Hawaii

We'd all be so much happier.

not really. People living in the south will never know enlightenment, women and girls will be subjected to draconian religious dogma, boy will grow up thinking they should join a holy war against people of color. We need to keep the country together to give these future people a chance at a real life.
