You get arrested for cashing a check

Your Plane crashes w/you in it

Overpass collapses just as you drive on it, plunging you

You werent expecting it. what you were doing isnt inherently dangerous, unlike being a cop or soldier.

was it fate?

Or were you just a victim of misfortune? it's just life in general, and some people are unluckier than others?

I believe it's just dumb luck. it;s the laws of probabilty. these people had bad luck. they balance the people that win the lottery.

What do you think?

I believe that sometimes unexpected things happen, to us or to others. Nobody told us that we are going to live until we are 100 years old, any of us can go at any moment. So there is nothing we can do but just keep living. I believe that everything needs to happen for a reason (even if we don't know what it is). Then again, that's just me and I am weird :D

Just like that X-Files episode I like so much.

But really, it's probability more than luck.

Anyway was at the hotel getting ready to chill out and remembered I forgot to get my lotty ticket that I amways got with the same set of number and yes, honest to god truth, I was taking my shower decided not to bother watched the lottery anyway and yes ALL of my numbers came up. There was only one winner that night and should of been two if I haddent beet to pooped to go get a ticket.

I Litteraly felt like ending my life at that moment.

they were interviewing survivors of people struck by lightening, and some people describe themselves as the luckiest people in the world for surving a lightning strike while others deem themselves the most unfortunate for having been struck b lightening.

Oh, like having a rare skeletal disorder thatoccurs in less than 10% of the world's population and leaves you with messed up jaws and a severe underbite? Yeah I know what you mean. Some people just get the short end of the stick on life :p

Fatalism? Not quite, I do believe that we have the choice to change most of the events that happen in our lives. However, some of them are unexpected (like the brazilian plane wreckage or the overpassing collapsing) and the outcome is pretty much out of our hands.

If it is your time, it is your time.

I am reminded of the story about 2 skiers, a man and wife that managed to outrun an avalanche some years ago. They made it to a small cabin which ended up being buried. One of the skiers, the husband I believe was badly wounded but recuers did eventually find them. The wife managed to walk away, but a helicopter was brought in to life flight him out and it ended up crashing killing everyone on board.

It was right after my father had died of cancer back in 1994. The first day was really hard after seeing that but I kept going thinking on how both my parents (deceased at the time) would feel looking down on me if I took my life over money and then there was my younger brother who when we lost our mother in 1990 was only 12 and 16 when our dad passed and knew if I took my life for sure he was to follow. Besides that he didnt have anyone to look up to and I had to step in best I could and fill 2 parents shoes at a time he was going through changes physicaly and emotionaly.

So as you can see that day not only did I have to ontend with the money but a crap load more was on my plate. Yes I did feel like ending it all, but after a day of mulling it over and another hot day working in a full suit cleaning contaminated soil gave me plently of time to think over my actions. Which was a good thing because now even though Im disabled from work I did that most likly cought up with me I have a great family and wonderful children and a wife who is the best to me and been through alot and stood by me through it all. Aside of missing outon alot of stuff my disabilitly has taken away now and will further down the line I am a happy man even without gobs abount of money.

Money isnt everything and having good friends and family is so much better and more rewarding then all the money in the world. Granted having money helps but only to a point. My home is paid for, my bills are taken care of, my out standing dept is wiped out. I have nothing more then food, insurance, fuel for cars, and utilitiy bills. I need nothing more then I really already have.

i am surprised that i survived for so long . . . with as little damage that i have suffered.

i should have been injured surfing the Big Pipeline waves for years . . . nope . . . instead i got 'caught from behind' at a red light by a Honolulu City Bus . . . UNlucky and lucky . . . lucky the bus had awesome insurance . . . unlucky to have permanent damage . . .

and death will catch up with ALL of us - anyway, no matter what . . . So the BIG question - what's after death? . . . anything?
