Every text message should be sent as an MMS instead of an SMS

I've noticed that a lot of my sms text messages are being lost. I think the solution to this is to send every text message as an mms message instead. MMS is much more reliable than SMS since MMS are their own independant multipacket communications and SMS are just whatever messages piggybacking on throw away packets. Is there any messaging client for Android that supports this feature?

Perhaps the better solution is to move to a mobile messaging platform.

That's why I like iMessage, not sure the exact protocol it uses. But I love delivery conformation and that you get notified when it's been read. SMS has been hit and miss with me, very miss a few times when the messages were super important.

XMPP is as close to universal as you'll get, but everyone will need a client, and an account somewhere. Not an insurmountable problem.
