Every single time I updated my video drivers, my desktop icon order gets screwed up

..until today when I installed the NV 169.25 drivers. I was surprised my icons stayed where they were. Good job MS (or NV)!

Mine got screwed up when I went to 169.25 drivers.

The reason for this is if you uninstall old drivers first, Windows reverts back to 800x600 resolution. If your icon layout was beyond that (counting from upper left corner) then the rest of the icons get pushed back into the defined area.

I got tired of this icon problem, so I put my icons in the quick launch bar and resized the task bar to double height. This also makes the application buttons much easier to read when there are lots of application windows open. Now, when I switch display drivers, the only things that are on the desktop are those Adobe/AV/etc. icons that I never use anyway.

This happens because during the driver update, the machine briefly reverts to standard VGA mode, low resolution - and that's when it reshuffles the icons to fit.
