i thought we were over the DRM issues with Bioshock?

that said, isn't a license for a piece of software supposed to be per PC, not per user on that 1 PC? or when did this change?

On the plus side, you won't have that guilty feeling when you get the pirated version. The retail version probably wouldn't work for you anyway!

DRM +1
Legit users +0

Even though Mr. 2k tech didn't come out and say it, I think his implied answer is 'yes, every USER would have to obtain a license (meaning buy the game) to play.

That's just plain messed up. I can kinda see the logic with 2k wanting to keep their customer's 'legit', but this is plain re-tar-ded........

I don't think it was implied as much as it was outright stated that you need to buy a copy for every USER of a computer. Obviously idiotic. I just wonder how they expect this to happen? Will their activation server pitch a fit when it detects one copy of their game is using several different keys? Or do they really expect the game to be installed as many times on one computer as there are users (profiles) of it...

the game was cracked within a week of it being released. Not because some kid wanted to play it for free, but because of things like response that mod gave.

People crack games like this just to prove a point.

Are you playing Bioshock VIAN, regardless ?

Those days of UT2K4 working on hundreds of machines are gone . They are just trying to cut their losses to five machines.

Whether it will work , I don't really care as long as I can remove the DRM infection after i finish my game...

Get used to it... PC gaming is kindda dieing ...

The demo was so good, I bought it, though a little hesitant because of the DRM. But I haven't started to play it yet.

Thos were the days... when you didn't have to worry about the number of machines you could install some POS software. Lending it to friends was a way of networking. But now, it seems like they want us all to sit in a cubicle and only talk to each other online. Not sharing sucks, it takes some fun out of gaming.

I bought this game release day.

I regret doing so, as i supported the worst DRM BS i've ever seen in any game.

Hmm, to bad. I was going to pick up a copy, I'm kind of looking for something new, but I won't deal with this BS. Oh well, back to Civ IV.

Damn glad I didn't buy Bioshock, dang shame too. There was a lot of hype around the game and they stabbed themselves in the back.

Since when has sharing games been legal? I didn't get into PC gaming until the early or mid 90s but you were never allowed to have the game installed on more than 1 PC as far as I can remember.

Since always??? You would uninstall the game, give it to your friend he would install it and enjoy it when you were done with it. We did it all the time. Just like a book, or a movie. Heck, I still do that with a guy at work with a few games that we both enjoy. But, with the coming games like BioShock, that is not really a possibility anymore.

Funny, installing the Demo you would have installed SecuROM with that too. Might as well go for the whole kaboodle.

Doesn't the uninstall process free up the key to be used again at a later time or on another PC?

Plays like any other FPS IMO... many of the enemies move around like they are on roller skates to boot. terrible animation and blurry frames.

that should be perfectly fine. I don't see how you can't do that with Bioshock though?

I have to ask, why are you people putting up with this and still fricking buying the game? You're giving them reason to do what they do.

If instantiating these measures proved to be a losing proposition, they wouldn't d it, but it's not losing them money, it's gaining them money, because people will buy in to it, like the tools they are.

No, not as of yet anyway.
That was an answer we were given right after the games release on the official Bioshock forum , when we were still only allowed 2 installs.

Well, nobody got any "extra" installs by uninstalling the game like they said we would, so they "upped' the install limit to 5 and said there would be a utility offered later that would allow us to uninstall the game with that and then the utility would free up an extra install.

Bioshock definately turned out to be one of the wierdest purchases ive ever made.
I still cant believe i cant install a game i purchased as many times as i would like!

I can understand a "call home" to verify a game is legit, but limiting the number of times you can install your purchased copy!?!?
ODD, VERY ODD.

That's pretty much why I waited until I could crack the game to play it. It's a pretty sad day when you refuse to play a game until you can crack it and not just out of convenience (like the use of No-CD cracks).

Yeah, no kidding.
I actually "own" the game and i still downloaded the crack and burnt it to disc and keep it in my bioshock case with the retail game dvd justso i know i can install it again whenever i want.

We've all used cracks b4 to avoid having to have the game disc in the drive to play, but this is my very first time grabbing a crack just to install a game!
