Every Game Crashing

Ok. I had this problem before (my old post seems to have vanished) and I solved it buy putting in the right VIA Chipset drivers. Well I did that before I even tried playing a game and low and behold I try to run HalfLife (yes with the latest vid card drivers and halflife drivers) and after a few seconds it locks up and forces me to restart. I think I'm doing something wrong..I downloaded Via's 4in1429v drivers and installed them without a problem, BUT I'm having this crashing issue with running games. Can somebody please refresh my memory or at least give me advice on what to do? Thanks.

MSI K7T Turbo (this mobo has given me nothing but problems)
256 RAM
Hercules Prophet II 64MB (detonator 7.52 drivers)
Sblive X-Gamer
Win98SE

I`ve Win98 OS1 & 4.29 Via 4 in 1 drivers on my MSI K7T Pro board(btw rock solid)I`m using the Nividia 6.50 drivers which work great for me,now with Win98SE I`ve heard sometimes it`s better to just install the Via AGP driver & leave the rest not installed,on the other hand some people have all the Via 4 in 1 drivers working great with 98SE.

You could check your bios,I`ve disabled all video shadowing including system bios cacheable,Fast R-W Turn around can be either(I`ve enabled but try disabled since you`ve stability problems).

Also check for IRQ conflicts.

hmm well i tried disabling video shadowing (never had to before) and that didn't help
all the other things you suggested were already off. jeez i wish i could find my old posts
they must got deleted. i also checked my sblive settings and theres no dos emulation listed anywhere in device manager. these are the exact settings i updated to when i had fixed this same problem last time (what happened was my old harddrive died and i had to redo everything..LONG frusrating story) whelp if anyone has anymore suggestions lemme know.
