Alright, I built a new comp.

DS3L, E8400, 4gigs ram, 4770 video card etc.

Not great, but it was cheap and works so I liked it till now really.

I have a problem in that when I hit a discipline ( special ability of sorts) it gives me an insane reuse timer. It's supposed to be 30 minutes, but I get 12 hours.

Now to solve this people on the Sony forums, people said my CMOS is wrong and that I need to change the battery as the Bios time is different than the system clock. However over the last few weeks I have checked it, and they are both the same. So I'm not really sure that would do it.

So I resorted to downloading something that will supposedly synch my comp up to the right time every 15 minutes, not sure if this will help.

But I'm willing to try a lot of things, such as changing the battery but I can't find what it is even to change it or buy a new one. Anyone know offhand what the battery is to find it.

So any ideas, or should I swap the battery and if so what is it even?

Your computer is fine, and if you just built a new system your CMOS battery is not the issue. And if it were, you would notice all kinds of other problems. And that doesnt matter much while your system is up and running a game anyway. The people on the Sony forums are WRONG!

It sounds like a game issue, in fact I wonder if the timers on special abilities are controlled by the server and not your computer. Otherwise people could exploit this and have special abilities that last all day.

I am not familiar with the timers in EQ being clientside however there is data that is available within the client itself that resides in memory that you can manipulate or that's what I hear. 😉

That's what I was thinking, everything looks fine other than in this one game.

I recall some possible issues with AMD dual core processors, but nothing about Intel so I'm not really sure what's with that if there is an issue there.

Also I didn't uninstall and reinstall EQ just yet, that's like a couple hours minimum and then who knows how long for patching. I can do it though, I'll have to find my discs...
