ah, you're using Santa Cruz too? are you using the latest drivers that were posted in General Hardware a couple of weeks ago... or the original for XP?

Yeah, I'm using a Santa Cruz, if I can figure out how to get friggin XP to tell me what drivers I'm using (they make it so difficult in this OS, i'm still new to XP) then I'll be sure to let you know.

Where did you download the drivers from? were they recent drivers you downloaded like 2 weeks ago? and did they say beta?

(smack forehead). Found em. I'm using 5.12.1.4112 from 8/29/2001. Guess I should I update. The betas in GH then?

You can read the official board, right?

Well, what i would do if i were you, is to uninstall EQ, and reinstall it... i think you may have messed up the patcher by going directly to testserver first before running everquest.exe

This time, reinstall eq, and try running everquest directly, without going to the tutorial or test server.

If that still doesn't work, follow these instructions and post the information here... and i'll post it on the official eq technical forum for you tomorrow morning

Will do. Thanks again for helping me out.

Well, I'll be damned. It seems to be working now, or at least it "updated the patcher", and now has a nice pretty graphic that's downloading files. It's different so far, at least.

So, I should I just avoid the TestServer thing like the plague? Kinda seems screwy that running something that automatically put on your desktop would fvck you like that.

No, testserver works... but i think when you ran it first before running the normal everquest.exe, it downloaded the wrong files in the wrong order. testserver is just that... it's a server where everquest tests new stuff before bringing it live. there's no support, and they're always trying really wacky stuff there. VERY small population, quite boring imo.
