Mediaplay has a deal going in their current ad... if you buy Everquest for $19.99, you get the Network Adapter for free!
this is a good enough deal on its own if you don't want to hassle with PMs, and I was going to pick it up, but my Mediaplay was out of Everquest so they couldn't give me the deal
so I went to Best Buy and asked them to PM the deal (Best Buy is running a deal where you buy EQ for $19.99 and get $15 off the Network Adapter, so you are basically asking for a $25 PM difference). After checking with the manager, the CSR said it was no problem (this is the first YMMV?, I dont know if 'package deals' like this might fall outside BB's PM policy?). If they give you a hassle you can also use the argument that Mediaplay and BB are owned by the same company
i tried to use the $5 off $19.99 or higher game or accessory coupon, but the CSR said I couldn't since I already PM. I wasn't going to push it and the deal turned out better anyway...
when he was ringing up the transaction, it turns out that Everquest Online has had a price drop to $9.99! so he gave me EQ Online + PS2 Network Adapter for $9.99 total out the door! Thats pretty amazing considering they would want to charge your $39.99 for the Adapter alone - I don't even want EQ Online, I'm just getting a great deal on the adapter.
the second YMMV is whether $9.99 price drop is at all stores, and whether CSR will give you PM to Mediaplay's deal AND the price drop. if they dont give you the price drop, maybe you'll have better luck than me with the $5 off coupon and get it for $15 (remember coupon doesnt apply for stuff under $19.99 anyway). either way, worst case scenario, $19.99 for both is still the best deal I've seen.
