It looks like this is for some of the newwer PII Mobo's that support 100 MHz FSB (I believe that started with the 350 MHz PII). If you have a system older than that, say a 233 or 266 MHz PII, chances are you can't run this CPU. Unfortunately, by old Gateway G6-266 can't (according to evergreen's website), though I'm not surprised. If it did, I would jump on this in a heartbeat :(

One thing to remember though ... If you have a PII on a BX board, you can jump right up to a Celeron II or a PIII in most cases, and a celeron 800 MHz is going for about the same price as this. So, this is really only good if you have an oldie PII laying around that cannot support the newer CPU voltages.

<< Looks like this is a Via Cyrix III-600, rather than a Celeron. See

Actually, the review says:

Evergreen uses a variety of Cyrix and Celeron processors in its Performa line. The $100 Performa 600 that we received included a VIA Cyrix III-600 processor chip mounted in a Slot 1 frame, a suitable heat sink/fan, and a driver diskette.

The buy.com page states: Type - Intel Celeron

Wonder if this would work in my daughter's old Micronics LX-chipset based Spitfire MB w/ PII 333Mhz ? It's fine for her needs...just needs a little A$$ ;-)

So would this work with my via chipset board. FIC KA6100
On FIC website it states that it only support up to PII-450... even though it is basically comparable to a BX board. It does support 100mhz bus setting. Does anyone know if i can run any faster then 450 cpus with this board?
here is a list of jumper settings:

<< Featuring enhanced processor technology such as 128K full-speed Level 1 cache, MMX and 3DNow! instructions >>

The Celeron doesn't have 3DNow! does it ???

<< Memory / Cache Installed ( Max ) - 128 KB ( 128 KB ) - L2 Cache >>

Does the Cyrix have this much Cache ???

<< Q. -- Will the Performa obtain full speed in my system? >>

<< A. -- The Performa500 will run at full speed in all systems that support a 66MHz. bus speed. The Performa600 will run at full speed in systems that support 75MHz. bus speed settings. In systems that support only 66MHz. the resulting CPU speed will be 533MHz. The Performa766 and 700 will run at full speed in all systems that support a 66MHz. bus speed. >>
