Evercool VGA Cooler and noise with DFI NF4 mobo

Ok..the DFI fan is very loud as many have complained..looking to change it out..I got a Evercool Twinkling VGA Cooler that is supposed to fit ok

I plugged it in and fan makes a whining noise from the "motor" not from speed of the fan

wondering if anyone else has this issue...overall seems quiet but the motor noise is something I seem to hear

Yeah, this is my experience with it. My stock fan developed bearing wobble, so I had to ditch it. (That's my second bad experience with SUNON Maglev fans.)

Try setting the temp controls for the NF4 fan in the BIOS' PC Health section - Fully OFF below 25º, fully ON above 55º. That'll pull the RPMs down to about 3K and quiet it down.

I did this except I set full to 50C

But the other reason for considering a change is better cooling???

Welp, my experience is that the Evercool *is* better performing than stock, but not by much. Maybe 2º C or so. We can all thank DFI for limiting our choices on better performing chipset coolers - it's either the Evercool, or maybe a copper Iceberq, or throwing the GPU into the lower lane and blocking a PCI slot...

thanks..probably really not worth the hassle then...

Jeez 2nd HSF for the chipset I bought..first was a vantec copper but it needed modification to fit..so I sold it...

well I may at some later date hassle with this....just such a pain to remove the mobo...besides it is not going to affect my oc..just though it might be worth lowering the temps
