I am thinking of purchasing this case for a Shuttle MN31N mobo that is partially installed in a old micro case. The old case has very poor cooling and the PS is vertical and blocks access to mobo. Before I go further decided to get a good basic case. Saw this at Newegg and mentioned in another thread. It looks like it take a 120 mm fan front & rear. Can anyone confirm.

The Evercase web site with complete specs is easy to find - but I'll help THIS time... Rear all sizes, front 80mm. Be sure your case comes with the hd isolators for the removable drive cage else get them direct from Evercase. And you can get an add-on drive cage with another set of isolators from them at the same time if you need the space (or even if you don't - they're cheap and can be used in just about any case with some extra room in it).
.bh.

BTW, the Evercase 42x2 series are excellent choices, IMO.

Where's the :sun: ?

Hola mdcrab,

Yes indeed, this is a very well made case. It will support a 120 fan at the rear and also at the front with a small modification to the front panel retention tab. If you already have a p/s, then you won't go wrong with this one. Evercase also has a similar model with a 300w p/s for only $15.00 more linky, so if you need a p/s this would be the way to go on the cheap. Note that for some reason on this model, the rear will only accomodate an 80mm fan but does include the additional hd tray at the bottom of the case. In addition to the front usb connectors, there are front mic, headphone and firewire ports which aren't included on the $30 one. I think either one of these would be a definite improvement over what you have now. Hope this helps. :)

Yeah, Evercase is stupid in that they don't have a parts ordering capability on their site. You have to phone or use email. If you try email, use an email address that has some relationship to your real name and from a non-free provider. A lot of companies filter email from Free providers like Hotmail.
. What is even more stupid is that companies like Newegg don't specify a proper configuration to begin with...
. I recommend an account with fastmail.fm - they don't have a bad rep for spamming and other abuses like lots of the others. They have free and paid accounts for those who need the extra features.

Here is the info I got in response to my email re. parts for the 4292 - I expect parts for the 4252 should cost the same:

"Hello Bill,

$3.50 for E4292-02 and $1.75 for E4292-03 plus shipping & handling. Thank
you again for your inquiry!

Best regards,

the 4252 is rated as one of the most silent cases you can also get- more silent than the bqe or sonata

Newegg used to carry the removable cages (before they were fitted for vibe dampers) - but I haven't seen 'em there for a long while. Nor have I seen any of the Evercase accessories anywhere else - actually not many sites carry their cases for some reason.
. Order your Evercase accessories direct by phone, fax or email is the best way I know of. Found one place - usereasy.com - wants $8.50. for a drive cage and doesn't even offer the grommets - how dumb can you get? IAC, they don't have much of a reseller rating and what they do have is bad..

Just ordered the E4252WSF-F

Decided to order the 2 x 120 mm fans separately (probably going to go w/ Vantec Stealths). This Evercase model comes w/ second HD cage and front USB2.0 x2,IEEE1394 x1,Mic x1,Audio x1 ports.

Will call tomorrow to order HD grommets. Thanks for all of the recommendations.

Um, as I pointed out earlier this case only accomodates one 120mm (front) and one 80mm fan at the rear, unlike some of the other evercase models. Of course I'm basing this on the pics of this model on newegg's site, which are subject to change without notice. Otherwise this case is a great deal. It should include either a sparkle, power Q (fsp) or possibly an 'ever' (made by macron tech). Give us an update when it arrives with the particulars if you don't mind. :D

Will do. It should be here around the middle of the week. It would be nice if it has a Sparkle PS.

Received the EVERCASE Beige Mid-Tower ATX Case "E4252WSF-F" today.

It came with an Ever Model MPT-301, Low NoiseTemperature Controller, 300 w PS.

Ratings:
+5 = 30 A
+12 = 15 A
-5 = 0.5 A
-12 = 0.8 A
+3.3 = 14 A
+5 VSB = 3 A
(+5 & + 3.3 Total Output 160W)

Case is very sturdy and well built. Steel is of a heavier gage than most. Box says made in China. Has a single retainer strip for securing all the AGP & PCI cards.
Have not received the HDD noise suppression grommets from Ever Case yet. Case arrived a day earlier than Fed Ex Super Saver tracker said. The outside box foam shipping blocks were pretty torn up, but case survived w/o any apparent damage. Nice well constructed case for $.

It takes a 120 mm fan at rear and a 80 mm fan at the front. Just intalled Vantec Stealths at the locations.
Also ordered the side fan bracket which come with an 80 mm fan, cost $7.50 from Ever Case and is supposed to be coming with HDD grommets.

Cool. Thanks for the update. :) So this one does fit a 120mm at the rear, aye? Does the fan opening look identical to the one in this pic or does it look like this one here? And would this case accommodate a 120mm at the front as well w/ a little modding. I have heard that a 120mm will fit at the front on these.

I also have this case...as a warning. It's reset button is tiny...like poke it with a paperclip / ballpoint pen tiny. Also, it is short / not much clearence between the powersupply and end of the motherboard. A DFI infinity and zalman 7000alcu would not fit...because the Infinity has the socket so close to the edge of the motherboard and because the zalman is....uh..big. The zalman hit the PSU, so I had to break out the old trust sk-7 for the time being.

A Zalman radial flower likely won't fit with any mobo, and you'll need to be careful w/ a ThermalRight SLK or SP.

The fan opening looks identical to the this one here. It takes a 120 mm fan. The front is a 80 mm.

120mm rear mounts are a recent addition, and AFAIK, no model number changes exist to reflect that.

Just installed CDROM and and 3.5 Diskette drives. They were the easiest installation I've seen. Just slide drive into position from front and slide locking mechanism to the lock position and your done. No extra parts, screws or rails. The lock has prongs that engage the drive mounting hole and they are held firmly in position.

The case is on the small side, but the Shuttle MN31N has room at the bottom for a full size mobo. The case has the same outside dimensions as the one I was replacing, but on the Ever case everything is accessible. The power supply doenot obstruct anything, but the PS is right up against upper edge of the mobo, clears by 3/16". May have to pull PS to install hsf lock tab, but it should clear. Will probably use a stock hsf from a AMD Athlon XP 2500 on a XP 2000 (just spare stuff I have sitting around).

There are three cables from the front port panel, a USB cable, a 1394 cable and a audio cable. No pin outs were provided for the audio cable, but the plug looks like the one below with one pin blanked out. The front cover is hard to remove, but it came off for the front fan installation. If I remove it again I might be able to figure it out by the lead colors. Plug looks like this

oo
oo
oo
Xo
oo

Has anyone seen a pin out for this type of connector? May have to email Evercase. Even if I get the pin outs I don't think the mobo has the pin arrangement to support it.

Problem solved. Just was looking thru MN31N manual for the usb port arrangement and found the mobo has the front audio pins that match the plug. I didn't originally recognize it because two pairs of the pins had jumpers. Removed jumpers and installed front audio cable plug.

I bought a E4552, which was the first case I've ever bought. I was pleasantly surprised and will look again at this brand the next time I build. The reset button is small and requires a pen to activate it, but after I got the computer up and running I haven't had to reset it for 6 months so I now consider the small button a plus.

I would like to buy the front USB/firewire adapter but am having trouble finding any place that sells it. I sent an email to Evercase and await their reply.
