ever wonder why websites buy beat to heck electronics?

Surprisingly, not a delicate operation at all. Mongo fix iPads.

No need to clean the bench off before working with the new back?

Lots of people on Craigslist will pick them up too. I remember I sold my broken original Xbox for $100.

i sold 4 of them to some guy on craigslist like a year ago for $60. was glad to get rid of them. think 2 of them didn't have dvd drives though. no wires or anything - just the broken consoles.

All that work without showing if the "fixed" device actually turns back on. 😕

These things never have a charge. They've sat for years in drawers or wherever. I plug them in long enough to see the lcd work. After they are whole, they go on the charger 5 at a time. Then to the PC to make sure that itunes detects it and there is no ios lock.

Thats what the mat is for, prevents scratching. I used to use shop towels until one got a lil too close to the heat gun....

Are you just as careful and detail-oriented in your work as that guy? He has all the skill and finesse of a guy who slaughters chickens for a living.

Oh, sorry. That IS you. 😳

Wow.

Gotta disagree. It looked like a fast and professional bit of work. Do you think the workers who assemble those things for Apple would do the job any differently?

Seriously? Yes. You can be damned sure their work environment is orders of magnitude cleaner.

LOL. You think your Chinese electronics are assembled by white-gloved rocket scientists. That's cute.

There's nothing wrong with the OP's methods. He is obviously someone who is capable of working with his hands, unlike most of you dick-fingered nerds. ;P

Awesome.
Question - what do you do if there is an ios lock? Our school district and several other districts in the area have ipads for every student. And, of course, some get broken. We self-insure; that is, there are so many, that paying for some sort of insurance costs more than just replacing the handful.

Afaik, they *pay* to have them shipped to a recycler. I'd love to become the recycler; but what do I do with the locked systems once they're rebooted?

I'm sorry rudeguy I fapped to you grunting when removing the broken glass. Actually i'm not sorry, deal with it. 😛

ios locked gets used for spare parts. There is no way to get around it.

If your school ever wants to get paid for their used stuff, shoot me a PM.

I imagine you could just wipe it. I don't know how or anything but I remember a kid got caught last year at my district breaking iPads ($50 insurance) by dropping them in a lake or something to where the district didn't care and then wiping them and selling them for like $300. (16GB iPad 2's) Got caught with the engraving on one of them though, didn't scratch it out enough.
