Ever wonder why Activating WinXP is such a pain in the ass?

It's really not that bad.

Call-connect-type in a bunch of numbers.
"Did you pirate this?"
"No."
"OK, here's your code"

Done. Sure, it sucks that you have to do it at all, but it could be FAR worse.
 
I never had to activate XP when I installed it 5 years ago (still using that same install) so no pain in the butt for me.🙂

No.

Me neither. Usually it does it automatically over the Internet. After I had reformatted and reinstalled and upgraded several times, I had to call to activate, but that was surprisingly easy too.

I didn't have to find it...my brother in law emailed to me along with plenty of other annoying pictures and video's.
 
my activations have all been automatic, save for one; i was directed to a call centre in britain, where they obviously spoke perfect english. 😀
