<< Amused one, I think what Cattlegod is saying is that the more intelligent you are, the more reasons you will have to be depressed. Recognizing the reasons certain things happen (usually because one stupid person makes a bad decision and other stupid people follow along saying, "Boy, that's a great decision." Then when the decision doesn't work out, they ALL blame something else) doesn't make it any better.
How many times have you seen an employee that doesn't know jack diddly about their job get promoted cause they smooched butt. That person has screwed up again and again, and still they are the greatest thing since sliced bread. The intelligent person realizes this person is a waste of space, yet management doesn't see it. You say to yourself, "Am I the only one to see that this person is worthless?"
Well, the answer is YES. Which is why some intelligent people are also some very depressed people.
Oh, to be fat, dumb and happy. >>
Neko, and I'm saying that REAL depression has FAR more to do with brain chemistry than with knowledge. Sure, you can be occasionally bummed and jaded by certain things in life, but that's not depression. If these things bum you out, and you can't get over them, that is depression and it has less to do with knowing about those things, and more to do with your brain's inability to deal with emotional problems.
