I'm 20 years old right now, and sometimes I think it would be cool have been born 20 - 25 years earlier...

The main reasons include, muscle cars, being able to see all the bands I like that have died/broke up, and just generally being able to experience america during that time peiriod.

Also, it would only be realllllly cool if I had a slight knowledge of the future, just so I could make good investments and be a rich as hell 40 year old by now, instead of some burnt out hippy...

Anyone else ever give this any thought?

No sh!t?

But yeah, I kinda wish I'd been born in the early 70's so I could have been involved in the computer revolution of the 80's insted of just kinda watching it.

So I guess that's some perspective for you. :p

sometimes i wish I was born like 4-5 years earlier.

the reason is because I graduated in 2004 w/a BS in computer science degree and the market was paying like 45k - 50k out of college, and the housing market in this area are ridiculous. it's like $275K for a decent 2br condo alone, $300K for a pretty nice one.

in 2000 when my brother graduated and some of his roomates were computer science degrees ... they made 75K - 80K right out of school and houses (not condos) were like $200K for a nice 2br or 3br place.

I wouldn't have minded being born earlier in the 30-50s if I was white. Otherwise, no.

**EDIT**
There was something about that time in America that seems appealing to me. Maybe it is the idea that a man's word was his bond (it meant something).

Also, it seems that being honorable and doing your duty was quite important back then. It also seemed a lot less complicated back then.

In other words, it would be cool to live in the 30-50s without the rampant racism. Plus the huge economic boom right after the war was alright, too.

I wish that I would have been born 2 years earlier, so I would have graduated college at the height of the dot com boom. I would have made a fortune, cashed out early, and sold my Silicon Valley real estate for a big profit.

I guess I wouldn't want to change when I was born, but if I had to choose I'd like to
be born about 20 years earlier too and attend high school and college in the 80s

Don't forget the Depression happened in the 30s also. I kind fo agree with you though.
Of course every age has its bad apples it just seemed like a simpler time. I've been reading alot oabout that time period lately (reading several biographies on Robert E. Howard who wrote lots of his great stories in the 30s). Its also a time where many things had yet to be discovered.

It'd be cool to have been an appropriate age to appreciate the '60s, 70's or 80's, but overall I feel as if I was born exactly when I had to be.

I do feel this is the time to be in one's prime however, we all have a real interesting millennium ahead of us.

If I was born a day earlier I would have graduated High school by now and be getting ready for college. I don't think I'd really want to start off college at the age of 17.

So nope, fine when i was born :)

meh, i'd be happy if i was born 100 years later.

space travel ftw!

of course, if the world ended tomorrow, it wouldn't work out so well -- i might find myself in the year 2106 as some fungal spore mutation with eyeballs and 3 fingers -- but hey

It started to get better mid 30s though and was very progressively changed in the 40s.

I sometimes think this as well. Dont get me wrong I love computers and loved all the advantages we had growing up (I am 22 now..my birthday today actually)

I would want to grow up in the 60s-70s peroid.

My dad talks about college when he was there..very diffrent...also when they were growing up it was much much more simpler...people didnt baby people as much..people just played outside..

simple is good...things are ver complicated now.

Agreed. Too complicated and too many people are spoiled nowadays too.
