Ever visit someone's house and jsut think "dammnnnn..... this place is nice"?

I went to some guy's house today. I found him online - he was going to sell me an engine block. So, I drive to his, about 45 minutes away from my place. When I get there, he lives in this HUGE place on several acres of property. It's an absolutely beautiful house, behind a gate with a pool, and most importantly, a huge garage. His garage had three seperate bays with electric lifts in them. He also had a couple of his friends over, and a couple other guys he'd never met before (except online) who were either buying parts from him, or getting help with thier cars. Now, you can't just go to this guy's house and buy a part, and leave. You're invited to stay for dinner, help work on other people'sc ars, and have people help work on your car.

I ended up staying about 6 hours at this guy's place, helping to remove a 400hp 351ci motor from a 88 mustang GT (wasn't fast enough.... a 600hp motor is going in its place), got invited to dinner by his parents (it's his parent's house, but it's not important in this story). During the 6 hours I was there, we had about half a dozen V8 mustangs, a replica Shelby cobra, a BMW M3, and various Ford and Chevy trucks in there. Of course, there were also 2 seadoos and a boat just parked there.

In the end I ended up getting an engine block, a set of rods and pistons, a camshaft, a timing cover and dinner for the $100 I had originally intended to spend on just the block.

Anyway... someday I hope to have a giant house like that where I can have lots of people over having fun and working on cars and stuff 🙂

I went to the graduation party of a kid whos dad was a ceo of cisco, the house was brand new and just got finished, this thing was crazy. Me and my bro dj'd a bunch of house parties in the hills of fremont, ca...thats where all these big dot com people live...crazy houses!...

Sounds like it was fun, going there again?

Well, I've been invited back. They're really nice people, and I had fun hanging out with all those guys, so I probably will at some time 🙂

One of my uncles has a huge house like that..and from the outside it may seem like complete glamour and all, but when you consider the fact that he works about 70 hours a week, never has any time to spend with his family, is always tired, barely knows who his kids are, can never go on a vacation, and at the end of the day all he basically has to look forward to is another long day at the office.

Oh, and what's he get out of it? A nice big house. Worth it? To me, hell no.

The parents of one of my classmates in high school owned a major Chinese health food/vitamin conglomerate. They built a 40,000 square foot house. To say it was massive would be a, well, massive understatement.

You could fit a townhouse in the main foyer. Driving by it you'd swear someone just stuck a major resort/hotel in the middle of the neighborhood.

So that house is basically a freindly junk yard?

It's a million dollar house at the end of a private drive in northern california hills known for thier vineyards. The lawn is manicured, the pool is sparkling, and the garage is nicer than some I have seen used for professional auto repair businesses. In front of the garage were parked several 400hp+ custom built performance cars.

So, to answer your question, no.

Is 40,000 sq ft. really that much? I mean, isn't that "just" 200 ft by 200 ft?

/ignorant

And plus I really don't see what's so impressive about a person with lots of money who likes to show off and build such a big house that's probably out in the middle of nowhere..

200 feet is pretty long. That's two blue whales put together 🙂

Well, yes it is. And then you realize that an acre is "just" 250x250. Kinda big house if you ask me.

I used to do a lot of work in homes near Ft. Lauderdale beach and up the coast(houses on the ocean, etc.) I've done work in Wayne Huizenga(guy owned the Marlins and owns the Dolphins, and started Blockbuster video), he had a pretty nice spread. Ive also done work on, what was at the time, the largest home in S.Fla: It was about 20,000 sq.ft.
Three sides on the Intracoastal wateraway, elevator in the middle, kitchen about as big as my house is now.Yeah, I thought, "Dayyyyyyammm, this place is nice."

Peace

yeah... but 200ft is pretty damn long for a house.

I know what you mean about those houses. My bedroom is probably the same size or smaller than their bathrooms.

Well, considering the average "track home" in America is between 1000 - 1500 sq ft. I would consider 40,000 big yes. My house is 1490 sq ft. - and I have four bedrooms.
