Yea when I worked at bestbuy, the guy went to the 30inch imac stacked some boxes on the right side, and had his bag on the left. It did jack to block anyone's vision.

It was too funny

Back when I didn't have the net connection at home, I used to browse for porn at the university computer room. A perk of being a nerd student in a non-nerd faculty is that the admins/tech don't expect you to know your way around computers and so only use minimal security.
The new WinXP network was filtered against porn, torrenting and whatnot, but the old server from when the computers were still running win98SE had somehow been left running, and access to everything was open. Now, WinXP was set to load settings from network, so you couldn't change network settings, and you weren't supposed to run live-CD operating systems - they'd removed the ability to boot from CD to prevent people from doing that. However, they mistakenly left one computer of them all set to boot from floppy first, so I ran a floppy-loading BIOS password cracker, found the BIOS password (same for all computers in the room), and I restored proper boot order on all machines. I would then run Knoppix, connect it to the old server, and surf to my heart's content - porn included, which I'd copy on an external drive and then, um, peruse back home. I could also print for free on the networked printer when everyone else had to pay. :p

I dunno how long I would have been able to keep doing that had I not gotten net access at home - once or twice I had to kick the reset button in a hurry as the tech came into the room, ostensibly to reload paper in the printer but I suspect he really wanted to check why one of the connections wasn't going where it was supposed to. He probably suspected me, but he must have known he could prove nothing...

I got the net at home right when I was gearing up to install Linux partitions and hidden bootloaders all over the place, turning the whole faculty in a little home away from home...

But you were in an at least somewhat private environment. Or at least you could fool yourself into thinking it was so. This guy was sholder to sholder with customers right out in the open.

I was in the Mall of America with the wife some time ago shopping...she wanted to go into some chick store...

I bailed shortly after and went next door to the mac store to browse(not a mac guy at all).

While in the store they had all the computers internet accessible. I was browsing around and playing with one of the displays. This older guy walks up to the computer right next to me...gets on the net...and starts browsing porn pictures of fully nude women.

I started chuckling to myself. Shortly after a small Asian sales assosiate walks right over and attempts to brow beat the man for browsing porn. The guy looks at him....waits for about 10 seconds...turns and keeps browsing the pictures...the sales guy leaves to go tell on him.

about a minute later he just walks away...out of the store and security shows up...

I don't think anything happened but it was a funny experience to tell the wife!

lol, yeah it's the mindset that I don't get. I mean are these guys just completely immune to being embarrassed or completely lack a sense of personal/private vs public space?

We have a site that has some "woman porn" (soft core like Skinamax). One of our Indian consultants was debugging a page on that site which had with cheesy pics of slutty woman and an older manager who wears a tie all the time so he looks serious came over and jokingly and told him, "What do you think you're doing? You can't watch that stuff here!" The consultant didn't know it was a joke and got all scared and was like, "But this is what I do!" :D

Yeah but if you were sat in one of the rooms having a wank and I spotted you on CCTV you'd be out.

We are not allowed to have CCTV in any room on campus. We can have it in hallways/stairwells/etc but not in a single class/computer room. It tends to give us problems when we have to deal with police, but then we just show footage of the offender as s/he leaves the room.

We used to deal with people looking at porn in the labs, but you could spot them a mile away. Sitting in the back with the monitor angled such. Amazing when you could manage to sneak up on them and say something truly embarrassing. Watch them jump a good 3 inches in their chair and turn beet red as the rest of the room erupts in laughter.

Then there was "The Little Fondler". For 2 years I taught kinder-8th grade computing. There was a 3rd grader who knew of a porn site. He used to go to the site and sit there petting the screen saying "boobies, pretty" repeatedly. Then I would kick him out of my class and give him detention. This happened every couple of weeks all year. I would block sites, he would find others. Finally I just made him use a computer off the network.

one time i went to a public library in oakland ca and there was a black dude sitting at the computers watching full on hardcore porn. the library was prepared though. they didnt ask him to stop. instead the walked over and put a filter on the screen that prevented the monitor from being viewed from the side soall the kids wouldnt see it. he just continued having his fun....

I hear about it a couple times a month that some guest used a net station in the business center for porn surfing. A few times after conducting a review. The video footage would show the perp getting busy with thier pants down.

Why did you feel it was necessary to tell us it was a black guy?

That is seriously weird, I cannot understand the fascination of looking at porn in public.

I was in Micro Center a few months ago, and we went into the Mac section to price out cases for my fiancée's iPod Touch. There was a girl on one of the MBP's browsing her Facebook (bad enough as is), looking at some fairly questionable pictures (half naked party pictures, her in a towel just after a shower, etc.) It was nothing too extreme, but either she was trying way too hard to get noticed, or dumb as a rock.

Several weeks ago, we went to a play for one of my fiancée's classes. A guy one row in front of us spent the entire time watching porn on his phone, audio and all. I would have said it was a gag, but he was really zoned on it. Pretty disturbing.

The first time I went to the beehive in Pittsburgh, which is a coffee shop with access to buy internet, I saw a short hair cute brunet looking at hot redheads spread wide open. I was on anther computer to the side when I spotted her. She was pretty hot and I wanted to talk to her and see what was up with her. You had to buy time to use the computers there and I had couple of minutes left and need to get directions. Once I was done there I had to take a piss and when I came back out she was gone. I still wish I could of talked to her.

I've seen it at a School library. There were people at every one of the 30+ computers on that floor, and some old dirty looking scrub was looking at Porn when I walked by.
