Ever see ZZ Top in concert?

Saw them in the late '90s with Lynyrd Skynyrd. Thought they were excellent. As others have said the presentation was pretty straightforward, but so is their music. I loved it, but I can see where people might expect more "presentation" at a live show.

I seem to recall that ZZ Top used to include some wild animals, such as deer or elk or something, live onstage during their music shows.
Does anyone remember seeing something like that?

Fandango tour, think it was in the mid '70s.

In the mid-80's when they did their pop thing and got rich, they had a pretty elaborate stage show (explosions, lights, lasers, bikini girls, etc). I read an interview with Billy Gibbons where he said he hated that era, but they did it for the money. Can't say I blame him 🙂

My wife saw them in the 90s when they were travelling with some group whose lead guy used a chainsaw. Said it sucke and they enjoyed the undercards more.

Saw them in '07 when I turned 21 with my dad. So much fun... they're great live! And as others said -- the music comes first. Their light show and such isn't flashy and crazy, but it gets the job done.

Black Stone Cherry opened for them when we saw them.

Yep think that's it. I dropped them off and picked them up, was great ragging them the entire ride about the chainsaw music, and then saying it was worse than that cause they sounded better than the main act.

Saw them in the early 80's and again just a couple of years ago. They were excellent. They are and will be legends. Billy Gibbons is the master blues guitar player and oozes cool like no other guitar player. The stage setup is pretty minimal for the last several years but when you've been playing and recording for almost 40 years, you don't need gimmicks, your music and performance stands on it's own.

I'd definitely go see them again.
