Ever see the movie Dune?

Many years ago a friend of mine picked up a paperback copy of Dune at a garage sale for $0.25. I finally got around to reading the book, which was kind of a tough read.

Another friend loaned me the movie last week, and I waited until I finished the book to watch it. Well, tonight was the night...

This movie has got to be one of the worst films I have ever seen. We all know movie adaptations of novels are generally not up to par, but this movie was just making up stuff as they went along.

There were so many gaps in the storylines, that had you not read the novel prior to watching this movie, there would be no way to understand what the hell was going on.

If you look at the cast on Internet Movie Database (IMDB) you'll find a bunch of recognizable names. I'm surprised these people got work after signing up for this turd.

This movie was a giant turd in the desert that the cat forgot to bury.

Anyone else waste their time seeing this film? What did you think?

Its a classic and one of the best sci-fi films of all time.

have to watch the whole thing though, even the 30min introductory that explains the story.

you did watch the director's cut didnt you?

Nope... I was loaned the Widescreen version. This one was 2 hours and 17 mins long.

I thought the movie was very disjointed... it jumped all over the place and I really thought the acting was TERRIBLE.

This is considered one of the best sci-fi films of all time?

What is the future coming to!

Sean Young is hot. Crazy, but hot nonetheless.

Ya, there was some redeeming value by having her in the movie. She is cute... 🙂

The book wasn't really bad. A little out there, but pretty cool.

I just didn't like the movie.

Wow...young geeks are getting their cards w/o having read Dune? What's next, neither a SW or ST allegiance?

😉

"That movie was the illlest yo!"

Seriously though, that thing was some of the msot fvked up sh#t I have ever seen. It made sense, but the oweverwhelming theme of the film invloving weird cretures and the ocassional pot smoke caught on screen was too much for me.

Next they'll be saying they never read The Foundation Series.. it's sad really.

loved the movie when i was younger but then my gf (now ex) talked me into watching it with her because she had never seen it, i agreed, and it was not nearly as good as i rember it being when i was younger.

I thought the original movie was pretty boring.

I feel the same way about Blade Runner, though, so my taste in sci-fi movies may be suspect.

yeah i feel the same way about dune and blade runner, both have a real fan base, but they just don't do anything for me..
