Hah.. im so good at messing up in school :p Junior year of hs was fugly, failed 2 classes (shoulda had a 4.0), senior year failed one.
Year after hs, medical withdrawl from school (partly from long illness, partly from MESSING UP) I worked the rest of the year and did great for myself!

Then, this year.. messed up first semester hardcore.. (for no reason), and now 2nd semester im probably withdrawing from 2 classes tomorrow so i dont fail them. Perhaps basic training will clear me up a bit this summer, but for some reason I only skip out on schoolwork.

When I was in my teens I always thought I'd change...but at 26 I'm the same idiot I was then.

Maybe you ought to start asking yourself why you choose not to succeed? Do you think you aren't worthy of success? Or do you worry that if you do acheive, then people will have expectations of you?

So, don't say "(for no reason)"... There is a reason.

Yep. In HS, a friend has a 71? Roadrunner with 383. Didnt buy it.
Later, found a Chevelle SS with a 283. Didnt buy it
Not too long ago, found a fully restored Mach 1 with 351. Didnt buy it.

All under 7,000. Someday I will learn, and snag one of these classics up at a good price.

I have no motivation. No drive. It took me 6 1/2 years to finish college because I'd always lose my focus and crap out at the end of the semester. I got a CS degree because I thought it would be useful, but now I realize I'm not all that crazy about CS. I'm not crazy about anything, which is my problem.

I admire that, but I'm over the hill for that sort of thing. Plus I have other responsibilities now.

Repeating patterns of failure are sure signs of one's will not to succeed.

You choose not to do as well in school as you can. I'm guessing that you could get very good grades, with relative ease compared to your peers... Yet you don't. Why do you suppose that is?

Like I said, there's a reason.

I really wish I knew, but yeah.. the easy grades should be there. Heck, I scored a 29 on the ACT after i fell asleep on the science part and got super low. Other then that my avg was like 33. Got a 96 on the ASVAB. Schoolwork still sucks though. Perhaps i'll do better when i get to take programming classes.

Memo to TallBill... You won't do any better until you figure out what's so bad about doing your best... What could happen if you achieve your potential.

An interesting quote from my co-op days at GM:

Yes.

Last week I felt a muscle pull in my middle back while working out. I gave myself a week off and went back this week...

I re-injured the same fusking muscle yesterday, and I'm in pain that would make the Pope curse up a storm right now.

This time I'll give myself three weeks. If I injure it again, I'm having my back removed. :|

My school history was much like yours. Years later I think that I've learned that if I had to go back I'd apply myself more, but the real fact of the matter is I hated school with such ferocity that applying myself was difficult and only possible when in the right state of mind (I had this state best in final year of highschoo. It was make or break and I surprised myself and those around me). This state of mind didn't often appear and during university it was a rollercoaster as well.

I am poor at doing things I hate and I hated school. Unfortunately I didn't have the drive to push myself through what I hated enough at the time.
