Yes, that happened. Not to me, but to our admin this morning. :hmm:

Nope, she emailed the guy asking why she hadn't been getting the usual email from him and he replied asking what her email address was.

Well, some mail client software makes you jump through hoops to see the email address instead of the display name or contact name associated with the sender's email address. I wonder which email client software the other person was using...

Many places have a cut/paste block of text that requests email and/or phone number even though they may have originally contacted you by phone or email.

In fairness, you may have a different set that you prefer to use other than the initial contact info.

Probably end user being dumb with the email client - I would guess most people here at work would at least stumble trying to find someone's email address after being so accustomed to simply typing in the contact name for years.

isn't that what your post was all about?
No. The admin used to get emails on a regular basis from some guy. She stopped getting these emails so she sent him an email to find out why. His email reply to her question was "What is your email address?"

OP it's clear you found the right business to work for. Probably full of pot heads that claim it doesn't affect anything.

Actually wasn't a business email but thanks for playing anyway. How was your cruise?

I often get emails saying the sender is having a problem sending/receiving email.

I had a request from HR at work to e-mail them a scan of my passport.

So I did. The reply came back, can you try it again, but don't send it as an attachment.

"So can you accept scans by e-mail or not?"
"Yes. We can. Just don't send the scan as an attachment, because the departmental e-mail system deletes all attachments automatically"

I sent them a photocopy snail mail.

You could have put it on Dropbox and sent a URL.

Reports aren't always delivered to the same person requesting them, perhaps it was a distribution list, or a department e-mail that only one person answers. The question might have been "what is the email address for the report?". If not, well, I got nothin'. :D
