Question Ever put a PC in the freezer, or outside for the winter?

Yesterday I was considering ways to control thermal issues when recharging an alkaline AA battery. Later, I found myself wondering if anyone had ever used a freezer, or even outside under an overhang during the winter to get cold temps for their PC.

Anyone have any experience with either of these? Removing a PC from the area where we like it to be in the 70's to a place where it is 50 or 60 degrees colder naturally might increase the ability to overclock without adding a whole lot of additional heatsinks & such.

There's been a ton of articles about how bad of an idea this is. 1) Freezers only maintain temperatures, they can't continuously pump out heat. 2) if you're doing this outside, prepare to get a ton of condensation.

That's why some people would just bring the radiator out, not the whole pc

Many years ago, I had a project that had to be done on a computer outdoors. It just happened to be winter. The computer would never boot under 32°F and worked occasionally if booted inside when warm and then taken outside. Your results may vary.

Plus, SteinFG nailed the real problem: condensation. If your computer is that cold, elimination of condensation should be your main focus. You don't want to short out your computer. Even in your example of a 50°F or 60°F area, the dew point of water can easily be in the 60s on a humid day.
