The company I work for has a relatively new server product ... I was asked to provide training on the product ... and I have a session this week. I have good people skills and was chosen for this because I can convey technical details to both sides of the workforce.

I know the material ... but what types of nice little things have your teachers/trainers done to help you understand, make things memorable ... lighten the mood, etc?

I don't want to just get up there and sound like a drone going through the material ...

Basically, what types of things can I do to help not suck?

Thanks in advance :)

Make an outline of what you want to present so you don't forget things.

Find out beforehand if they have any issues that need addressed in specific, or what their knowledge level is so you don't have to waste a bunch of time on obvious things and you can address their needs directly.

Compare things to other well-known servers so that they can better relate.

Practice what you are going to say in front of your wife/girlfriend/friends... if you can get that to at least get a basic idea of what's going on, teaching people that know the terms and know the IT field will be a breeze.
