I remember, back in the day, that Columbiahouse always had the "good" CDs, but you didn't wanna join cuz BMG was cheaper (less CDs to buy full price). BMG always too FOREVER to get "new" CDs and stuff. Is it just me, or does it seem like that's reveresed? I just signed up for BMG again, cuz I noticed they had a lot of stuff that I didn't think they'd have (Sigur Ros, Gorillaz etc).

Now, personally, my taste in music is more like "alternative" or "grunge" or whatever, but it seems like that's the case accross the board. If you look on the "whats new" page for CH, it hasn't been updated in literally like six of eight MONTHS.

They get new CDs in, even ones I'd like to get (the new Radiohead, the new Jane's Addiction, the newer Coldplay, etc) but they're always "restrictions apply" which means they are $15.99 or something and don't count toward enrollment.

Anyway, I just wondered if anyone else noticed that.

Just to get some crap out of the way:
1. Yes, I know my taste in music sucks, and your is so much better. Thanks.
2. Yes, I know you haven't bought a CD in ages and you can work Kazaa in your sleep with your hands behind your back. Good for you.
3. No, I will not hump your leg. You missed your chance on Wednesday night.

That is all.

I remember int the pre-MP3 days, the way to get free music was to sign up for BMG under a false name, or multiple false names. I had dozens of free CD's thanks to that!!

Wow, what a great response.

And redly1, I think everyone did that. Too bad they'll never find "Francisco Sanchez" at THIS address :p

Umm, maybe but both involve getting music you didn't pay for.

Ok, why do people sign up for cd clubs or dvd clubs? Is it really that much cheaper or what? It's just that to me it seems like a gigantic ripoff.

Well the popular BMG deal is 13 CDs for the price of 1. The breakdown is: 12 * $2.65 S/H (I believe) + (14.99 to 17.99) + 2.65 S/H = $52.50 we'll say, which comes to $4.03 a CD. Very cheap.
