At work I get lots of computer/IT magazines, like PC Magazine, InfoWorld, Networking etc. The ads in there are just so lame and don't make sense at all.
Here is an XP ad "You need 200,000 searches done in 2 hours. You don't have 2 hours. Windows XP" Ok seriously, how is Windows XP going to solve this problem? Maybe an application written for XP could do that, but then again, an application could be written for any OS.
IBM runs equally cryptic ads about some enterprise management software. This takes 6 pages, with 6 different people standing with their eyes closed. On the top it says "Close your eyes and it's done". Yeah sure, some huge enterprise application is easily done. Suuuuureeeee...
Then there are various ads from computer manufacturers, promising "managebility" and "reliability" Great, let's fire the IT guys, these computers fix themselves.
I know these ads are targeted towards higher level people who are more oriented towards business, and such ads with buzzwords appeal to them.
