Since when was there a $500 bill? AFAIK they haven't made one in several years -- but my drunk ass doesn't have enough money to be handed a $500 bill anyways

Nope. There is no $500 bill being printed currently, and all US currency in the last 80 years has been the exact same size.

I noticed....

The new coins are all salt based as copper is too pricey now. I am allergic to salt so this is a problem. I am lying.

For the of the country that doesn't understand a Boston accent, I think he meant quarter.

Unless he did mean quater. If he meant quater, I've never noticed one. What's a quater?

Huh? Here in God's heaven, Bahston, a quarter is pronounced quahtah, not quater ;)

there isn't a $500 bill

then how come 10 years ago a store was selling a $500 bill for $600? lol

Because, dumbass, the store was selling an out-of-circulation small series Federal Reserve Note that was printed somewhere from the 1920's through the 1940's. There hasn't been a bill larger in denomination than $100 printed for almost 6 decades.

From the Dept. of Treasury, Bureau of Engraving:

Currency notes of denominations above $100 are not available from the Department of the Treasury, the Federal Reserve System, or the Bureau of Engraving and Printing. On July 14, 1969, the Department of the Treasury and the Federal Reserve System announced that currency notes in denominations of $500, $1,000, $5,000, and $10,000 would be discontinued immediately due to lack of use. Although they were issued until 1969, they were last printed in 1945.

These notes are legal tender and may be found in circulation today; however, most notes still in circulation are probably in the hands of private numismatic dealers and collectors. If you are interested in purchasing these larger denominations, it is suggested that you contact private dealers or collectors who are usually listed in the classified section of the telephone directory under the headings of ?Coins? and ?Hobbies.?
