Where to?

Personally, I'm looking at moving about 300 miles away if I don't hear something from a local company that I interviewed at last week. I took a road trip to where I would be moving over the weekend, but was only there for a couple hours - other than that, I've never been there.

Sounds better than mine - I'm basically moving out to the middle of BFE :p (Arkansas, if you're curious)

I've done it all my life. Sometimes it's good, sometimes it's not so good, but you live with your choices and move on...
Having worked construction, I was always either choosing to go to somewhere for a job, or getting sent there by my employer. There were a few places I wasn't thrilled with, but overall, it was good. You will usually get out of it, what you put in it...Be prepared for a totally different life-style in SoCal than you were used to in Virginny...and some MUCH different people...

yikes, sorry, ive driven through Arkansas before and by the way it looked, I would never move there. Also its to far inland. Im looking forward to going bodyboarding every day at the Wedge.

Well, to be fair, I've lived in St. Louis all my life. So being landlocked is nothing new. But Walmart's HQ is located in a small town, a lot further from any major city than I've ever lived.

twice, when I went to college, and then when I got a job. i mean, i went there once to check the place out and find housing and stuff but I'd never been there for more than a day or so.

I did the same thing back in 1990. I moved from Rochester, NY to Los Angeles, CA (Marina del Rey specifically). I had never been to California before moving here.

You'll love Newport Beach...so long as you can afford to live there.

Edit-I hope you are going to be working in that area? Commuting sucks in SoCal.
