Yeah I puked, they looked uncomfortable, I ran out of the room, and was fired two days later.

EDIT: Not really though :)

I dont know about puplic speaking but I sang infront of 100+ people I reall didnt know at my wedding and I loved every minute of it (it was my first time and no I was not drunk).
It was a rush for me and would love to do it again.

Last year I spoke in front of about 75 people, including my HS Superintendent, Asst Superintendent , Director Of Technology, Principal, County Legislator, multiple heads of Departments at Northrop Grumman, Bethpage, and God knows who else as the featured student speaker at the Northrop Grumman - Bethpage High School HIP Commencement Ceremony. I know it's not college stuff, but I'd say this was an exceptional situation for a HSer and above that of what public speaking the average college student does.

It was quite an experience, adrenaline rushing, heart pumping. I give it up for people that do it well.

Yes I've done it many times, no I don't particularly 'enjoy' it. I don't mind it, don't get super nervous or anything because I've been in front of people my whole life (acting, public speaking, campaigning, teaching).

a few years back i had to give a presentation to ~20 people (DOT engineers) about my research progress. the only bad thing was that i didn't know there were going to be that much audience, so i was preparing myself (mentally) to talk to about 6-7 people max (just as all of my progress report presentation usually was), most of them i have known pretty well for the past year.

apparently that time my presentation schedule coincided with their annual meeting or something, so they thought they would just squeeze us in. that caught me by surprise. i was really nervous, and almost made a fool out of myself (i usually talk round and round incoherently when i'm nervous, which almost happened but i got it straightened out just in time).

am i the only one who gets terribly nervous speaking in front of large groups of people? :(

i get butterflies in my stomach and start to panic. i'm usually ok once i start, but the anticipation of getting up to speak sucks.

Ive done it several times.. including giving testimony at the state senate. I was very nervous a couple of the times, to the point it degraded my message. But I've improved a lot since then...

lol, I used to be that way real bad. Over time its has gotten better. I actually gave a presentation a couple months ago and got through it ok. It ended going so well I have to take the presentation on the road. I have to go to firms to demonstrate what we are doing and how it is going to affect their work. I did one a few weeks ago. It was strange because this was the first time I didnt know a single person in the room. I was on my own and had noone to back me up with answering questions. It went great. I was very surprised. I find it easier to speak in front of people if I am the one who knows the most about the topic.
