Honestly if you only listen to 100% rap/hip hop, or think 'M&M' is a great artist, then you might want to click the back button. But if you have an open mind for any kind of *real* vocal talant, check out Renee Olstead. Yes, she's 15, and yes, she sings jazz, but her voice is phenomenal. She's on the TV show Still Standing, and sung a song on one episode (as if she was dreaming) a few months ago, which is how I first heard her, but now I am hearing more and more of her. I know she's recently been on Oprah, Letterman, The Today show, maybe more, and also opened for The Corrs (I'm a big fan) on one more overseas shows, and David Foster said not since he saw Celine Dion in a tent 18 years ago has he felt the same way about an artist. It's nice to see a new young artist that isn't singing the crap that many today are. I doubt you'll ever see her lip syncing on SNL.
Seems she has 3 albums out, the most recent released May '04, and I see is still on Amazon's top sellers list, though for awhile it was at least #2: Link.
You can listen to several songs on her website (player auto loads on main page).
There's a link to the Oprah video here, but I imagine it'll excede bandwidth unless someone here mirrors it.
Another video.
Some more, though I don't have/won't install Real Player and can't seem to watch them with unRealOne.
Pics (one w/ The Corrs).
