Ever installed a dishwasher?

heh it only took 10 hours, 8 trips to home depot, 1 to menards, 1 to Ace, and 1 to a plumbing shop.

Also, I only had to drill 5 (5!) 1.25 inch holes in my floor and cabinet wall.

Damn thing works, but I have a leak in the drain line which caused the dryer in the basement to blow its circuit.

yes, i have installed a few.

5 holes?

1 for power (maybe, most junction boxes are behind the dishwasher already).

1 for drain line

1 for water in.

MAYBE 1 for a breather, but most people just loop their drain line so they dont need a breather.

So, why 5 holes?

I caunt 3, 4 MAX.

why 5? essentially it boils down to me being a dumbass!

BUT (#1) put hole for drain hose in the wrong place, and had to redrill it (#2)
(#3) pass through for the supply line needed to be moved back, but by the time I had the supply line refitted with compression threads my compression hose was too short. Rather than make another trip to the orange store, I decided to drill up (#4) through the floor directly beneath the washer. Elegent solution because my supply pipe is in the basement anyways. However, the new hole was such that the supply hose was very near to the electric motor houseing so I decided to reposition it (#5). 😀

you forgot the 2 tiny screw holes to attach the dishwasher to the underside of the countertop. 😉

hahaha

yeah, I actually drilled in one of those screws, but punctured my finger when the screwdriver slipped myself and decided that 1 screw was enough. 😀

I've done it and it only took 1 extra trip to HD, but I was swapping out one so all the plumbing, wiring and holes were in place already.

I was swapping too, but the new one was in fact a used one (only 2 years old, high end model for free). It had no drain hose, and my old hose was not compatable, so throw in a couple of trips to figure that one out.

Also, the supply line was odd in the way it went from 1/2 NPT to 3/8 compression, requiring the majority of my trips in search of 1) a converter and a step down and eventually 2) a new type of connector that fits directly on the 1/2 pipe (no sweating required).

I just bought a new dishwasher last month from BB. They charged $90.00 for installation. I was thinking about doing it myself but decided to let them do it. Thanks for assuring me that the $90.00 was well spent.
