They'll almost certainly make it a tiered service, the same way DropBox, SkyDrive, and Pandora have free options.

Giving limited free service initially is a great way for internet companies to garner attention and users.

the initial cost/deposit for the hardware($49 for usb stick, $89 for wireless hotspot router) and the expectation that enough people will purchase additional bandwidth if they use up the 500mb.

I still dont know what they are trying to market too. The rates are worse if not as bad as cell company's and worthless in home connections.

I assume that someone moved it from Off-topic to MD&G.

They are releasing a cell phone version within the next couple of weeks for iPod Touches and iPhone 4/4S's. I ordered one way back at the beginning of this last summer so I should be fairly high up on the pre-order list. I'll definitely post a review when I have mine and I've played a bit.
