Ever hear of a 4+ day chkdsk/scandisk?

I didn't know it was possible until I did one. Started on a Thursday night, did not complete until Tuesday. Massive, MASSIVE problems.

However, now there's a significant number of files that can no longer be found.

Can somebody put 2+2 together for me?

//edit
Before that scandisk, files would not be accessable, nothing could be backed up, it was hell. Now, the drive can be read fine and files accessed ok.

Whn some errors are detected, the error correction may entail restarting the scan.

However, if this happens again, your disk may be ready to give up the ghost; get your data backed up safely ASAP

I have to ask how much free space you had on the drive ??
Did you have any real big files..like 30gb video files ??

My only experience with a looong chkdsk was when I only had a small amount of free space for chkdsk to write to.

Anyways, its over and hopefully the drive is well behaved...
