Over a MILE away someone is cutting up siding with a circular saw with a plywood blade installed backward! Holy cow that was loud!

out in the country? 1 mile would be too far for sound like that to travel audibly in the city. Sound must have been very irritating for you to be curious enough to walk a mile away

That's the way to do it though. Plywood blade installed backward (I use a radial arm saw for it.) Perfect cuts every time. Fast, and no cracked siding.

When I was a kid there was this extremely loud explosion in the neighborhood. Several people including me went to check it out. We walked about 2 miles to where the smoke was. It was an explosion at a fireworks factory.

No error in their ways there. But, having done this before, is it really that loud that you'd hear it a mile away? Seems that I've cut through a lot of things that were much louder.

Nope - saw the saw (hehe) and knew what they were doing. Surprised at the noise though.
