Ever have UPS ship you an item from Dell?

Long story short...

I ordered a laptop from Dell and shipped it to my skybox address, UPS tracking said the total weight was 17.6 pounds.

My skybox got it and weighed it at 16.3 KGs which is basically 36 pounds... double the weight.

End result, i'm pissed cause now I have to pay twice as much in freight charges.

Anyone ever experience this from UPS + Dell??

The manager at the skybox co. told me UPS does'nt care how much it weighs cause Dell pays them well enough regardless of what the package weighs so they just put whatever figure for the weight they want.

Sucks that they had to go with half of what it actually weighs!

Oh well i'll be waiting with my scale to weigh it also when the package arrives.

Not sure how a laptop and packaging can come up to 36 pounds.

Dell Canada usually delivers with Purolator...

Anyway - Call UPS and inquire as to why your package was listed at weighing more then it actually did... They can reverse the charges pretty easily...

Sometimes it doesn't matter at all on weight, but by size... just depends... 🙂

My bad luck i guess cause weight means everything with the skybox... i get charged frieght on a per pound basis.

I'm in the Caribbean so i'll have a friend in the US who put thru the order call UPS and make some noise!

I don't believe that a laptop and accessories could weigh 36 pounds. Must be one big mofo if it is that heavy.

The UPS tracking number I got from Dell showed the package weighing 17.6 pounds.

When my skybox company accepted the package and weighed it, their scales said 16.3 KG which is almost 36 pounds.

So basically it's either UPS or my skybox company that's wrong, the Operations Manager said the scale in Miami and in Trinidad (where I am) both recorded the same 16.3KG's so UPS's weight was completely wrong.

well, you were charged less then, unless im missing something 17 is less than 36.

Ok i'm sorry i dont think i explained it well earlier..

The 36 pounds i'm refering to means that i have to pay a fee for the laptop to be transported from USA to Trinidad, which is based on a per pound rating.

So that means now I am paying 36 pounds * $2.25US instead of 18 pounds * $2.25US

Ok for those who still don't understand!

The fee I should have had to pay = $40.50

The fee I ended up having to pay = $81.00

Got the delivery today, lo and behold Dell's packing slip registers at 17.6 pounds, and UPS's tracking sticker says 18 pounds, a mere half of the 36 pounds I was charged for.

Even my bathroom scale says it's 18 pounds!

The war with the company continues on Monday morning!

Weirdness continued. I ordered a Canon MP390 printer from Amazon. Shipping weight is 24 pounds. UPS tracking shose 3.9 lbs :Q
