Ever have people intentionally hang in your blind spot?

Do you ever wonder if other drivers intentially do this, hoping you will "cause" an accident that they can collect money from?

Last night on a highway with few cars, I looked over to the next lane (and the blind spot) to change lanes, and saw someone exactly in my right blind spot. So I took my foot off the gas and he immediately slowed down to stay in my blind spot, which I can only interpret as wanting to get into an accident with me.

And you?

I get that a few times a month, dunno if it's on purpose or what but it sure is irritating.

Hmmm...I don't know. I have a CRX so my blindspot is so big that even if someone was hanging there, I wouldn't notice. I've never noticed anyone do it on purpose. The person was probably drunk or something. Intoxicated drivers always match speeds with whatever they can find.

Just do as I do and slowly drift over towards the offender, while keeping an eye on what they are doing. Generally once you get within a foot or so they freak out and back off.. Alternately if you are in the slow lane you can slow down until they are blocking traffic in the fast lane, then slam on the brakes (assuming there is no-one directly behind you). Since the offender is obviously watching what you are doing he will likely also freak and hit his breaks leading to an interesting situation in the other lane. I prefer the first method however.

I doubt anyone in their sane mind would intentionally hang in my blind spot unless they want to risk dying. i am one of the worst drivers i know. i can't drive slow, and i can't drive safely... i'm hopeless when it comes to driving...

When they do that I usually stick a shotgun out of the window, you'd be amazed at the speed in which they straighten up. ;)

Of course I first check to make sure it's one of those blindspot people that hang on like a wet turd. If I determine to be one, I just put "the plan" onto action.

I keep a lot of pennies by my side. I then roll down the window on the side where the offender is hanging on two. I take a penny or two and flip it out the window. It's amazing how fast they back off after it strikes their windshield.
