A couple years ago I thought about buying a whole bunch of produce and assembling "vegetable people" in various sexual positions, then taking photos and posting on the web. You know, a carrot penetrating a head of lettuce between two upright zucchinis, etc.

After skipping over unrelated "vegetable pron" search results, I discovered a site completely dedicated to this type of art. Very colourful, I might add.

I created a system of ground surveillance using units I called GSUs (ground surveillance unit; clever, eh?). I had a blimp that was to be mounted with a receiver that would take the position of GSU coordinates. To be cute, I called the whole system ASS for Artificial Satellite System.

I got as far as having the blimp and the GSUs, but never got a comprehensive positioning system working. I wrote the software in C at the time.

Anyway, about 3 years later I was reading in Popular Mechanics that NASA had created an almost identical system.

scooped by NASA huh?

sucks.

I told my friends back in college that I wanted to create an alarm clock that makes you solve some sort of puzzle before allowing you to turn it off. So you couldn't just roll over and hit off/snooze. They told me it was a stupid idea and it'd never sell.

Not too long ago I found websites that actually sold these.

That's a pretty good idea. problem is that it's SkyMall fodder.

I remember back when I was a little kid, I thought it would be so cool if you could rewind live tv. I had the idea that you would always have a VCR recording, then you could hit rewind to go back, but you would have to be able to continue to record live tv after you rewound. Such a thing was probably already patented at the time.

I thought I was brilliant by going to bars around 1:45am (15 min before last call here) and trying to take home any of the leftover women that didnt get picked up, and were in need of a self-esteem boost.

One time I mentioned it around my father, and he said "Oh, the old 2 o'clock sweep, eh?"
