ever have a gay friend change the way you feel ?

ok to start off with im not gay until recently i was very anti-gay (ignorant)
you know the type i called them fags wanted nothing to do with them real macho

then i worked with a gay guy at wal-mart and it really changed my mind now him and my wife are really good friends
i tell you i did a 180
now i feel bad for some of the things ive said in the past i was really cruel to this gay kid in highschool

so to all the people that *hate fags* i hope you get to know one besides whom they chose to sleep with there not much diffrent

oh, i thought this was going to be a different type of thread.....

well anyways that's good that you are friends with him 🙂

and yea, the same thing happened to me.... with ditzy girls... turns out some of them have a decent personality.

Its typically religious zealots who persecute Homosexuals, or those guys who are a bit confused about their own sexuality. My uncle is gay, as well as a good buddies older brother...both great guys, just not attracted to women. It never really bothered me in the least. Some folks of this persuasion can be a bit flamboyant in letting the world know "when they come out"...those folks give them a terrible name.

lol very hypocritical statement... you call em fags but you want everyone to give em a chance?

And if one of my hot female friends told me she was homosexual... then im all for it

🙂

i got beat to it, by a millisecond

I've always supported gay and lesbian. I feel happy for gay couples holding hands in public because they show no sign of fear of what people might think. I saw a gay couple like several months ago at Fry's. I was trying to pick out a USB2.0 card and then came these 2 guy holding hands talking normal and kissing each other like any other normal couple. I totally support legalizing gay and lesbian marriage.

I gotta say I agree with the others. You dont exactly sound tolerant when you refer to your newfound friends as fags.

Eh who cares, I call my gay friend a i love you all the time

I dont have anything against gays, and support their rights, but i cant help calling people "i love you" or "gay". Its just a stupid insult that has lost its original meaning, when i call someone gay/i love you i dont mean that they like men or whatever, but i guess its still wrong. Bah gotta stop doing that...

Seriously though, I know a gay friend of mine that goes to Hooters with us sometimes. It's hilarious hearing him make fun of "flamers." To a straight guy you could obviously tell he was gay, but he talks about guys that come in to the store with cutoff pink shirts acting more feminine than most women. The first time he started talking about this stuff I nearly blew beer through my nose...

IMHO, there's a difference between homosexuality as a sexual preference, and homosexuality as a very public lifestyle / form of cultural behavior. I find the latter somewhat distasteful, while the former is more or less irrelevent.

yeah similar to me too. i never really hated them, b/c i never really feared them. But i would use the word 'i love you' to call my friends (who were all straight to the best of my knowledge) when joking with them. i also used to say some mean stuff about them in general, like how its so disgusting, and so forth..

in college this guy from my floor at ut. austin was gay. austin has a decent amount of gays i think. in any case, he was really cool. he was smart, funny, and he was nice. he also had a lot of hot girlfriends. i found out later he thought i was hot *shudder* and thats why he made conversation with me, but now we're good friends. He knows i'm straighter than an arrow so he won't attempt anything, and i don't think he wants to cuz he knows me too well. he's a male whore, he likes getting with guys he knows very little about. in any case my siblings have gay friends that i've hung out with as well. all in all, they are a lot more funny and fun to hang around than my hetero friends. my gay friend is just like Jack from will and grace. cracks me up all the time (but he's not THAT queeny in public).

I've been through a similar experiance within the past few years. I work w/ a Lesbian and had a very good friend "turn" lesbian. I still don't agree that it is a good or healthy lifestyle, but that's not my call. They can live their lives as they please, they'll have to answer for the life they lead in the end, but I'm not gunna persecute them for it, however I also will not encourage their lifestyle either.

Yeah I used to make fun of gays quite often, then I found out my best friend was gay and did a total 180 and stopped making fun of them and I now accept them, and don't have a problem with what they like to do.
