Ever had this LCD problem? One HDMI input, 2 sources.

Took the plunge and bought a Sony 40" LCD, but I found later that it only had one HDMI input, of which I've got hooked up to my HD cable box right now. My new DVD player has the 1080i up-conversion feature, but only works when connecting the player to the LCD with a HDMI cable. Obviously I can't do that since the cable box is using the input. Besides buying a HDMI switcher (which are incredibly overpriced), do I have any other options? I currently have the DVD player connected to the LCD using the 3-set component option, this only runs in 480p which looks like crap.
