I was reading up on Peruvian cuisine when I learned that they are considered by many to be one of the worlds top cuisines after the Big names like French and Italian. They have a very eclectic mix of cultures stemming from immigration and centuries of foreign rule. They have a particularly large Chinese community for a south American country. Anyone tried any Peruvian dishes?

A Peruvian friend of mine in high school would frequently have cook-outs at his house to which a few of us would be invited. Definitely had some great food.

most popular dish seems to be rotisserie chicken.

It is delicious.

One of my favorite places to eat while living in Chicago was a Peruvian joint up in Roger's Park.

The long-time owner was giving us the spiel one time, and he mentioned how the modern cuisine is indeed heavily influenced by a century+ of Chinese immigration.

hmmmmmmm Pisco Sour........

My god parents are Peruvian and would always cook awesome stuff. Anticuchos are awesome but also try Guinea Pig. It's a delicacy down there. Tastes just like chicken.

I went to a little peruvian spot before. Nothing seemed to have asian influence at all, more like southern american. I had steak, fries, eggs sunny side up, and some other native peruvian side I forgot what though it had like onions bell peppers and stuff. I can't get the name of that green sauce either it's like guacamole spicey sauce or something

There's a place in orange county that's not bad. The place is called Inka Grill and it's some damned good food. I believe it's peruvian, I don't know if it's really authentic, I just know I like it.

I like chicken saltados - a sort of stir fry with chicken, veggies and french fries.. yes.. french fries. They have some sauce that comes in a green bottle they serve with their food and bread - I don't know what it is but I do know it's delicious and deceptively spicy. I'll load up on that sauce and be near tears by the end of the evening.

Paella is something a lot of my friends get and they love it. I'm not really big on seafood, but that cilantro/garlic rice they serve it with is delicious enough for a non-seafood fan to consider ordering it even though it is a seafood dish.

I didn't know what the ranking for top cuisines is, but I do know Peruvian food is pretty good.

Have you ever had Ethiopian food?

Neither have they.

I have had ethiopian food. Pretty good stuff, designed to be shared by a big group. It was a lotof various dishes loaded on top of.. i don't really know to describe it but I guess bread is pretty close description? Just very dough-like. It was used to grab the food and eat it. Pretty tasty stuff.

Their coffee has quite a kick too.

It's called Tallarin Verde. It usually consists of spinach, basil, and garlic with spicy peppers and cream or a creamy cheese. Great stuff. There's a creamy yellow sauce as well that uses walnuts and yellow peppers called Aji that's awesome.

My favorite Peruvian dishes are the ceviches though. A big plate of fresh Ceviche Mixto is pure heaven.
