Well, that's kind of how I felt today.
07:00 Alarm goes off. Grr. Hits snooze button
08:30 Woken up again by light coming in through bedroom window. Hmm. Oh crap.
09:05 Arrive at work. Despite being late I'm the first there. Hair bad. Needs sorting before anyone sees me.
09:30 Time to get some work done. Sit down at worksatan, swear at it a bit because the software is so damn bad.
09:35 Realise that wearing a fountain pen from a neck chain is a bad idea - pen has fallen out of top and has now left a huge permanent black stain on my brand new work shirt.
09:50 Worksatan appears to crash. Needs rebooting. More swearing.
10:00 Supervisor at work is too busy to supervise, so I pretend to look busy and write notes as to what I would have done had I not needed supervision
10:30 Work done. Supervisor won't be back today.
10:35 Go to starbucks.
11:00 Back from starbucks. Go to a different office. No work ready for me to do.
11:30 Something appears in in tray, but not for me.
12:00 Check my e-mail. My article has been rejected from a magazine, unfortunately, other authors aren't around so I don't know where to submit it next.
12:15 time for lunch
13:30 Any work anywhere in the deparment? Nope. Maybe secretarial staff are on go-slow?
14:00 Back to office. Still no work ready for me. Maybe this would be a good idea to prepare that lecture I have to give next week?
14:30 My afternoon supervisor appears and kicks me off the only workstation in this office. Spends next 30 writing letters.
15:00 Supervisor leaves for meeting.
15:30 Supervisor and some others come back from meeting. Lots of swearing about the other awful people.
16:00 Start work
16:45 Finish - home 15 minutes early
I got plenty of reading done, and have some good ideas for my lecture - but in terms of actually putting pen to paper, i achieved exactly nothing.
Oh well, at least I got paid.
