We've got these guys from Wisconsin down at work. They're contractors using our area. Anyway, they brought these cheese curd things to work. They said that they're the cheese in between the cottage cheese and regular cheese states.

It's really tender, really flavorful cheese. Way better than "regular" cheese. Anyone ever had them before? I've never heard of them.

Yes I have. When I was real young my mom worked at Grafton cheese company(who a lot of Cabot cheese) and she brought them home all the time. I loved the damn stuff so MUCH. I hadn't seen the stuff for years but I saw some at the grocery store the other day I plan on buying som next time I go there.

As a Wisconsinite, cheese curds are a way of life. You know you have good fresh ones when they squeak against the back of your teeth when you chew them. Mmmmm...fresh cheese curds....

When I was at UWisc-Madison, they were all over the place. They were sold in little baggies just like string cheese. I had a girlfriend who loved snacking on them too. I think I ate a few when I was up there, but didn't really go after them beyond that.

I used to go to Washington State University... there's a big vet college and a dairy there, so I could pick up a lg. bag of super-fresh curd really cheap. Awesome stuff.

Ever go to the TCF and watch them make curds? It's fun to do on the way to the beach.
Nope.. never actually been on a factory tour(or seen them making anything), that'd be cool. Only been there a couple of times, to get ice cream. :)

How the hell can you stop there long enough to get ice cream and not take the ~10 self guided tour upstairs!?

We should meet up for a TCF tour. Grab your sweety and I'll grab my sweety. That is, if Viper GTS isn't working that day. :p

I've lived in WI for 17 years, now, so I've had my share of cheese curds. :)

Haha. Yep! I used to live there and ooh do I remember those tasty treats and the squeaking. ;) I haven't had them in years and years, though. :(
