Ever go back and re-do edits on photos?

I am entering a competition at a gallery, and I'm going back through old photos and reworking some, just to see what I can do with them. Not sure what all I will be entering yet, probably 4 to 5 pieces.

This particular shot I took something like 5 years ago I think...it was when I was just starting to get into photography again. In addition to learning better technique shooting, I've also learned more with photoshop. So I played around with this image just to mess with it some. I'm not sure that I'll enter this one, but it is an option. I have better though so it probably won't make the cut.

I'll be entering in at least 3 categories - landscape, portrait, and black & white.

Here's the two versions:

The clouds look better in the second one, but honestly I think the foliage (especially in the foreground) looks better in the first one. Mountains are kind of a toss-up between the two...

It's a great shot, but honestly the second one looks like a really good screenshot from a computer game or a CGI movie. It just doesn't look right to me, although I'm not sure exactly how to explain it...

edit: To answer the actual question, yes, I have gone back through a lot of my old photos to touch them up a bit. Particularly the ones from the time when I was using my first Point and Shoot and just dropped everything straight to my hard drive without a clue how to do post processing. :)

Mask the trees in the foreground and desat them a little bit -- I think they detract from that awesome mountain scenery. Aside from that, I like your post-proc on the 2nd edit. You could even consider chopping off the bottom half of the image and making a pseudo-panorama with it. I love going back to old images and seeing what I can do to the with things I've learned since then.

I absolutely go back and re-process photos that I took a long time ago. I just ordered some 20"x30" poster prints for my dorm room, so I went back and chose my 4 best photos out of the 5000 on my computer and redid them. Edits mostly included way increasing saturation and vibrancy, and detail stuff like removing dust spots, vignetting, and CAs. The prints turned out just fine for poster use.

Yeah I'm not quite happy with the foliage color yet. Also the tree that sticks up in the middle I wish wasn't there, but there was no other way to get higher and get that angle so impossible not to have the tree there unfortunately.

I'll probably do more work to it and I may do a B&W from it.
