Ever getting annoyed listening to co-workers talk to their SO's?

At work one of my co-workers who sits right by me is on the phone with his wife like 300 times a day. We have no cubes here, so it's all open, so I can hear everything the guy says like he's talking directly in my ear or something.

Anyway, he and his wife have the most inane conversations. It always starts with him answering his cell and going "Hi cutie." Then they have some 15 minute conversation about something no one in the office cares to hear (usually with many references to how "cute" she is), which always ends in him going. "OK, I love you, I love you. Ok, bye honeybunch, love you sweetie." UGH! Gag me!!!

Now I'm married, and I love my wife, but I don't feel the need to A)Talk to her like 30 times a day while at work, and B)make my co-workers ill by saying her "pet name" 40 times and repeating how much I love her. I know it drives others nuts and they don't want to hear it.

Anyone have a co-worker like this?

That's why I go outside if I want to talk to my fiancee when I'm taking a break or something. That and the fact that my lab is in a basement so cell reception isn't too good.

/awaits for parody thread

edit: to answer your question no, I wish I had co workers but I have my own office. It gets real lonely but ATOT keeps me sane, that and the office next door which I can hear through the walls.

nope

all the people i work with are fat, ugly and lonely
but they bltch too much so i am transferring to a diffrent department

I can relate, except the annoying b!tch that sits 2 cubicles over is constantly fighting with her hubby on the phone. Seriously - it takes up about 75% of her work day. I have no idea how she manages to retain employment.

- she calls him "JEFFREY" every time
- she talks extremely loud and whiny
- she has pictures in her cubicle of him with his shirt off - not appropriate, sorry kthxbye

it's a running joke around here. the most amazing thing is she seems to have no idea - not even the *faintest* clue that everyone on this side of the office can hear every word she says. it SUCKS.

Wow. I'm in an open space also, but I don't hear stuff like this. Though I hear this one certain girl gossip all the time while bitching about "drama" in the other departments. Sometimes I fell like shutting her up. Idiot!!!eleven!1!!1

oh and the best is when certain people come together and begin to talk but it quickly dissipates down into a whisper-level... with frequent side-to-side or over-the-shoulder glances to check for eavesdroppers.

it's like, listen. you can't make it any more obvious that you're backstabbing every Tom Dick and Sally in the office. go to your cubicle, STFU, and do something.

i mean heck, i never spend the entire day posting on ATOT or anything...

yes. and they are always discussing finances. "my checkbook and online statement is off by a nickel, did you buy a bazooka joe on your check card not tell me? oh, dont cry honey, its okay, i still love you, but you know next time you pull that crap im going to have to slit your throat." gah! makes me sick. and these conversations go one for like 15-30 minutes 10 times a day. i make 1-2 calls the most, and i always take them outside.

I get teased because I don't keep pictures or momentos of my family (wife and kids) in my office. I do it for 2 reasons:

1) I keep work at work and home at home

2) If they fire me or I quit, all I have to do is grab my car keys - no packing for me

no.

we do work at my work its not chat time.

tell your boss he needs something to do because he is on the phone all day.

New office mate sitting 3 feet from me. Speaks in Korean, at high volume, well over five minutes per instance, several times a day... for the past three weeks. I often leave the office to go for a walk.

He also slurps his coffee.

I've been shopping for a good noise-cancelling in-the-ear headset. Suggestions?
