Ever get bummed because super wizzbang technology gets taken for granted?

The Global Positioning System is one of the most awesomeness displays of raw techno genius ever developed by peoples yet folks don't seem to appreciate its beauty. The units that folks buy for their cars could just as well display pics of the kids and folks would think it just as cool because they can't read the map displayed anyway.

Do you really get "bummed?" Technology has no feelings! Remember that Ikea commercial with the lamp? You need to watch it.

GPS is one of those things that you wonder how you ever lived without, once you are introduced to it's pure awesomeness.

Many things are taken for granted.

Printing is by far the most important invention (technological) in the history of mankind and no even thinks about it at all.

Also usb-powered coffee-cup heaters...

GPS is pretty sweet, but I'm bummed that my mio doesn't display 3d topographical maps of the area I'm in with my current position and track superimposed on the image.

Do I ask so much?

Yes you do. Well, maybe not, but there is a ton of work involved in GPS positioning, and well, with any engineering problem.

Here's a couple of articles and keep in mind, that's just high level overview of all the stuff that goes into it.

I 100% agree. That is the greatest thing invited in a 100 years IMO.
