Yes, I've picked up MANY great deals at PSs in the last number of years. If you understand what you are doing then it CAN be a great deal. Here is how I have found it works:
1. People bring in stuff because they need the cash. PS usually give a really low amount to person. A cop once told me that the VAST majority of the stuff in PSs is stolen but because few people record the serial #s of their stuff they can do nothing after the 30 day rule is up.
2. people can also bring in their stuff for a loan. THey pawn their stuff and get cash and have to re-pay the loan (at a REALLY inflated interest rate). If you don't pay off the loan, the item gets sold.
3. After the 30 days is up the PS ususally puts the stuff out for sale , usually at a rediculous price (although this is not always the case). Most of the shops that I have been to will negotiate the price down (usually about 25%) on many items.
A few of the deals I have found: power tools up to 75% off, DVDs, Vid games.
