As far as I know the political power and every type of power is still control by white people. You dont know what it's like being a minority. It isn't just black or white, there are other minority in USA. Your luckly you look like the majority and this was probabely just an isolated example.

I went from looking like a crusty hobo punxor to dressing like a sleak movie star and noticed (in this small town anyways) that I would frequently get discounts on things. Say I bought a pack of batteries a place, they would have some opened ones behind the counter for 50% less, or say I wanted a carton of cigs and they didn't have any left, they'd give me 4 packs with a carton discount, or say I wanted a bottle of jagermiester, instead of buying a more expencive bottle behind the counter they had a chilled bottles (which were cheaper) in the back.

I also happen to be a reasonably attractive white male, I don't know if that has anything to do with it. But yeah, looks have everything to do with how other people treat you.

It;s kind of ironic because when I looked poor people treated me like dirt. When I started dressing up and looked a bit rich (I'm not rich by any means)t I got all these discounts.

my family's last name is syrian, although the family is mostly european. my father owns a business near a relatively large syrian community. it is INSANE how many syrian people come in and ask for discounts because of their nationality; not even as a favor, just as if it's expected, and when he says 'no' they are shocked. different cultures, i guess, but still annoying.

Oh yeah, I've talked many sales people down for things. Staples $5 fee for buying a preassembled pc chair (floor model) pssh I want a discount because it's a floor model (young hispanic guy walks around looking for his manager then disappears into oblivion, finally a 50 year old man shows up who I have to walk up to ask about the chair) I want a discount on the chair because it's a floor model, so be it.

I agree. I'm Filipino, too. I went to Dunkin Donuts to get 50 munchkins. The store is ran by Asians. The old lady gave me a long johns which melted in my mouth like butter. It was free. I left and decided to get the munchkins some other day. I win.
